I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Kit Duffy, a great friend who was a true force in progressive politics in Chicago.
Kit did a tremendous job as an ally and advocate for Chicago’s LGBT community, whether it was as Mayor Harold Washington’s LGBT liaison or as a mentor to countless others in the fight for civil rights for all. She was instrumental in many of the steps forward for Chicago’s LGBT community, including passage of the city human rights ordinance in 1988, which we worked on together.
I extend my condolences to her many friends and fellow advocates for equality.
