Cook County Clerk David Orr on Monday named Courtney Greve his new Deputy Clerk.

“Courtney has done a tremendous job leading our communications efforts, promoting our office in all its facets, and aiding our legislative initiatives,” Orr said. “I am confident that Courtney will help lead our office into a productive, successful new chapter.”

Greve started as Orr’s spokeswoman just days before the 2008 Presidential Primary and was promoted to Director of Communications two years ago. Before joining the Clerk’s office, Greve was a reporter for the Daily Southtown and the Iowa Press-Citizen.

Greve moves into the position following the retirement of Jan Kralovec. She will work closely under Orr’s new Chief of Staff, Manuel Perez.

“It is an honor to take on this expanded role for an elected leader who has devoted his career to expanding voting rights and proving government can be efficient and transparent,” Greve said. “I look forward to carrying on that mission.”

Greve, who grew up in Chicago’s Mount Greenwood community and Palos Heights, earned both her bachelor's and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She lives in Oak Park with her husband and their three-year-old son.
