Mitchell “Mike” Royko Jr. was a progressive journalist and columnist who covered Chicago’s political system during his extensive career with the Chicago Daily News, Sun-Times and Tribune. He garnered a Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1972, a year after he published the famous biography, Boss: Richard J. Daley of Chicago. Royko published a number of other books during his career and was awarded the National Press Club Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990.
