Born Christos Chelios, the National Hockey League star has enjoyed success at every level. After two stellar years at the University of Wisconsin, Chelios played for the United States Junior Team in the World Championships in 1981-82. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he became an Olympian in 1984. As an NHL rookie with the Montreal Canadiens, Chelios set a record for scoring by a first-year defenseman. After being traded to the Blackhawks, Chelios returned home to Chicago for most of the 1990s. Chelios has won two Stanley Cup and three Norris trophies (awarded to the league’s best defenseman).
