Cook County Clerk David Orr’s office conducted a lottery December 17, 2003, to determine the ballot positions of candidates competing in the March 16, 2003 primary election.
The lottery affected only candidates who filed with the Cook County Clerk’s office (candidates running for county offices and Chicago ward committeeman).
Furthermore, only candidates who filed nominating petitions at the start of the filing period (9 a.m. on Dec. 8) were eligible to have their names included in the lottery (The names of other candidates will appear on the ballot in the order in which they filed).
