For Immediate Release: June 20, 2011

Clerk Orr to unveil new Statements of Economic Interests website

WHAT: Cook County Clerk David Orr will launch a groundbreaking new online database of 24,000 Statements of Economic Interests (SEI) filed by elected officials and public employees in Cook County. Filers submitted SEIs online for the first time this spring, so the Clerk’s website is the first fully-searchable SEI online database in Illinois (not just PDFs). Users can search a half dozen ways – from a filer’s name to answers to specific questions – and search results are easily downloaded to Excel. Previously, SEIs were filed on paper and copies were only available by request.

WHO: Clerk Orr, Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon, Illinois Campaign for Political Reform Associate Director David Morrison and Better Government Association Policy & Government Affairs Coordinator Emily Miller.

WHEN: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21.

WHERE: Clerk Orr’s office, 69 W. Washington, Fifth Floor. Clerk Orr will give a demonstration of the new site.
