Moshe Jacobius

Judicial Retention Candidate, Circuit Court

Judge Moshe Jacobius has served as a Judge for nearly 22 years.  He currently serves as the Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County which handles some of the most complex and sensitive cases in the entire Circuit Court involving real estate, business disputes and constitutional issues as well as all the foreclosure cases in Cook County.  Judge Jacobius presides over cases and also supervises over 30 judges in the Division.  Prior to being named Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division, Judge Jacobius served for nearly twenty years as a judge in the Domestic Relations Division and served for ten years as Presiding Judge of that Division.  This Division hears divorce, parentage, child support and domestic violence cases.  He presided over many family law cases and supervised over 40 judges in that capacity.  Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Jacobius served as an Assistant Attorney General for 17 years, was Chief of two Divisions and Counsel to the Illinois Attorney General.  Judge Jacobius has been found qualified by all bar associations.  In its evaluation, the Chicago Council of Lawyers found him Well Qualified and called him “dignified and professional,” and stated that respondents remarked about his “honesty, integrity and knowledge of rules.”   The Chicago Bar association stated that Judge Jacobius is well regarded for his knowledge of the law, judicial experience, integrity and outstanding judicial temperament.”
