I am Casey Griffin, and I am running for Commissioner of the Board of Review for the 1st District. I was born in Evergreen Park, IL and have since lived and raise my family in Cook County. I began my career as a member of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 17, which I joined in 1981. I successfully started a small business in 1996, generating several million dollars in sales.
Wanting to give back to this great community, I became the Deputy Recorder in the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office in 1999. During my 12 + years at the Recorders office, I have been a leading pioneer in bringing government agencies into the 21st Century. Because of my efforts, the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office is one of the largest automated agencies in the nation and has become the gold standard in cyber government. Specifically, I lead the Back-data Conversion Project: converting over 8 million documents from microfilm to digitized images. I directed the indexing and search-labeling of all converted images. I lead the Tract Book Restoration Project, which resulted in the preservation and digitization of over 5000 dilapidated government tract books dating back to 1861, encompassing over 500,000 individual pages of text. I researched and implemented our Cashiering and Accounting Renovation, which resulted in improved turnaround, from two weeks to two days. I lead the transition to full automation of online document viewing, purchasing and filing. This office is the now largest fully-automated government office in the nation, and has become the blueprint for best practices in governmental efficiency, transparency and accessibility.I will serve as a full-time Commissioner, and I want to bring the Board of Review into the 21st century. This will ensure transparency and efficiency for the citizens of Cook County for years to come.
